The Council on Adolescents of Catawba County follows State Competency Goals as mandated by the Department of Public Instruction of North Carolina.
Program Objective
Students will learn more about adolescence and that it is a time of rapid physical, emotional, and social change. With this change, adolescents are often faced with risk-taking and information about these risks is important to make informed decisions about their future.
Goals
Students will begin to identify how risky behavior affects future goals.
Create short term and long term goals.
Understand functions of reproductive systems in males and females.
Identify abstinence from unsafe behaviors as a way to affirm a healthy lifestyle.
Explain how to handle and decrease misunderstandings, sexual harassment and bullying.

Day 1
Welcome and complete pre-test.
Identify and discuss gender differences.
Movie “Teenagers Talk”
Create goals and identify positive and negative risks.
Day 2
Divide the class by gender.
Ice Breaker, puberty terms matching game.
Describe male and female reproduction systems.

Introduce Abstinence
