When does puberty start?
Boys can begin changing as early as age 10 or as late as 17 years old. Everyone is
different, and your brain decides the best time for you.

What usually happens first?
Everyone is different, but feet, hands and ears begin to grow first.

What about body hair?
Boys may have darker or thicker hair on their arms and legs. Hair begins to grow around the base of the penis. This is called pubic hair. Later, boys have hair under their arms, and on their face and chest.

Why am I so thick around my waist?
Young people usually grow in one direction at a time. You may be thicker, and then in a few months grow taller.
