Wise Guys/IMAGES is a ten-week program, which will provide your child with many skills to prepare him/her for the journey to adulthood. This program focuses on personal health, self-image, developing relationships, pressure resistance, and healthful decisions for students in after-school and in-school programs
Program Objective
To develop leadership skills among those in Wise Guys/IMAGES that will aid in resisting pressure and making healthier decisions.
Goals
- To improve students self-esteem and self-image
- To increase students knowledge of personal health practices
- To improve students decision making and peer pressure resistance skills
- To increase tolerance for acceptance of differences in values, lifestyles, customs, and beliefs
- To identify traditional gender role messages for females and males
- To increase social skills including listening for facts and feelings, starting conversations, and making decisions
- To increase students knowledge about consequences of sexual behavior including pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
- To increase knowledge on substance abuse, i.e. (alcohol, drugs and tobacco)
Students will complete pre- and post-tests with each course to measure the increase in knowledge and positive behavior.
